The Counselor in Training (CIT) program is designed to give interested teens the opportunity to experience the fun, work, and rewards that our summer camps have to offer, while gaining valuable leadership and work experience. There will be classroom time and time assisting the Standish Recreation camp counselors with everyday tasks, field trips, and help implementing camp activities. This will not guarantee you a spot as a camp counselor once you are old enough, but it will help you grow as a leader and give you insight of what being a camp counselor is all about.
Tuesdays will be classroom days where the C.I.T's will learn leadership qualities, how to work with children, and interviewing skills. Wednesday the C.I.T's will join the camps on a field trip and see what it is like supervising children while off site. Thursdays the C.I.T's will join one of our camps to learn how to keep the children safe and busy while at camp all day!
