Levels of Play and Descriptions

Pee Wee Co-Ed Soccer: Tuesdays, September 11 – October 7 from 5:00 – 5:45pm.
This introductory program is for children who are ages 4 & 5 by the start of the program. We will introduce the game of soccer to your little athlete in a fun, non-competitive environment. Each week will introduce a new skill that will encourage your child to learn basic rules, skills, and opportunities to socialize. This is a parent-participation program led by Standish Recreation, so please come prepared to jump in and help out.

Kindergarten Co-Ed Soccer: Wednesdays, September 12 – October 8 from 5:00 - 5:45pm. Kindergarten soccer will be divided into small teams each week with a volunteer coach to lead a combined practice and game each day. An emphasis will be placed on being part of a team, skill development, fun, and an introduction to the rules of the game. We will split the time between practicing a few skills and scrimmaging.

Grades 1 & 2 Co-Ed Soccer: Games held on Saturdays, September 15 – October 20.
Players will be placed on co-ed teams with a volunteer coach. There will be one practice during the week (TBD) and a game of 6v6 against other Standish teams on Saturdays. An emphasis will be placed on skill development, fun, and field positioning.

Grades 3 & 4 Soccer: Games held on Saturdays, September 15 - October 20. Players will be placed on teams, and depending on registration, it may be co-ed, with a volunteer coach. There will be one weeknight practice that will be determined after registration. An emphasis will be placed on skill development, fun, rules, and field positioning.

Grades 5 - 7 Soccer:
Games held on Saturdays, September 15 – October 20. Players will be divided by gender and placed on teams with a volunteer coach. Depending on registrations this may be a co-ed team. Once teams have been divided, check the schedule under "Team Info" to see the schedule for the Fall. This is a recreation travel team which will have 1-2 practices per week (TBD), and then a game on Saturdays. Parents should expect to travel to games outside of Standish.

Fee: $45 includes t-shirt and age-appropriate soccer ball for pee wee through grade 7 - it is the player’s responsibility to bring his/her own ball to every game and practice.

Volunteer Coaches: The success of this program relies heavily on parent volunteers. No experience is necessary! We can help you. If you enjoy working with kids and can follow a weekly curriculum provided by the recreation department, then you are well on your way to making a positive impact on a child in your community! We need you! You will always be teamed up with a co-coach, so you won’t have to handle it alone. A 50% program fee credit will be applied to all volunteer coaches.
In the event of game cancellations due to poor weather conditions, there will be a message on the Recreation Department website and Facebook page. This message will not be posted until 4 p.m. during the week or 8:00 a.m. for Saturday games. The message will only be posted if the game has been cancelled...if there is no message you should assume all games will be played. Games might not be made up due to weather.
